Lace up your walking / running or biking shoes – Philly is closing 10 miles of city streets for physical activity this Saturday! Philly Powered will be part of Philly’s first Free Streets event taking place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along this route. If you’re not excited yet, recall the openness of the streets during the Papal visit, subtract the pilgrims and the National Guard and add the Mayor leading a Power walk, three dance hubs, miles of traffic-less biking, mural hopscotch and more…
The Free Streets concept is not exactly new. It is part of the international Open Streets movement, which encourages people to explore active living in urban environments. Philly Powered is proud of our partners who will be involved this year hosting activities throughout the day.
Be sure to download the VEA APP to participate in the official Free Streets Scavenger Hunt for opportunities to win a Fitbit.
The final map will be posted on www.phillyfreestreets.org.
