Spring Fit Gardening

Did you know that gardening can be a great source of physical activity? Activities like raking the lawn, bagging grass, and pulling weeds are considered moderate physical activity while yard work that involves heavy/rapid shoveling, carrying large logs, and digging ditches are considered as vigorous physical activity. If you have plans to accomplish any of these tasks this spring, you will be getting your exercise this season!

Helping Mother Earth, One Bottle at a Time

This year, Earth Day is focusing on ending plastic pollution. The overuse of plastic is harming our ecosystem, injuring marine life, polluting our beaches, and clogging our streets and landfills. You can take just one small step to help to reduce plastic waste:

Get a reusable water bottle!

Investing in a reusable water bottle is great for the planet, your wallet, and your health!

Reusable water bottles save you money, and will prevent billions of plastic bottles from being produced and littered each year.

And the great news?

Tap water in Philadelphia is healthy and clean! If you’re lucky to have a water fountain or hydration station where you work or go to school, you can fill up your bottle there. And if you prefer the taste of filtered water, try filling up a pitcher with filtered water at home to keep in the fridge – you can pour that cool and refreshing H20 right into your water bottle on-the-go!

You can even add cut-up fresh fruit, like lime or lemon wedges to add a little extra pizazz to your water as a healthy, flavorful option – instead of sugary drinks.

Water and working out go hand-in-hand – it’s your best friend, whether you’re walking, jogging, dancing, gardening…whatever way you move your body.

We need water to survive; it’s recommended we drink at least 8 glasses a day, so why not do your part by keeping yourself hydrated and helping keep our earth pollution-free! Love your body, love the earth.
