Skating & Skateboarding
Kick, push, coast.
For more of a rush with your full-body workout take your action to four little wheels. Skateboarding and skating improve balance, precision, endurance and coordination. Burning anywhere between 150 to 500 calories an hour, these sports can give your legs, stomach and arms an intense workout.
Think skating is only a summer sport? Take to the ice once winter hits and see how your skills translate. At the Blue Cross Riverrink, you can rollerskate during the summer and ice skate during the winter against the beautiful backdrop of Philly’s gorgeous waterfront. While the glory days of skateboarding in Love Park are over, Philly has plenty of spots to grind a rail. Check our Paine’s Park in Fairmount, or Pop’s Skatepark in East Kensington.
During winter months, you can slip and slide with the best of them at City Hall’s Dilworth Park. No worries if you’re just a little rusty. Find your old skates and come on! Or just show up and rent a pair of skates. Either way, you’ll leave with your ankles strengthened, heart healthier and your soul ready for more.
