Basketball
Become a blacktop legend.
On the blacktop, city park or local gym, neighborhood basketball courts in Philly deliver one thing for certain: pride. Pride in the game and respect for players who’ve earned it.
If you’re just starting out, practice your dribbling, shooting and lay-ups. Learn how to screen, cut and pivot. Once you’ve gotten the basics down, the best way to get better is to play with people who are better. Come alone or with friends, but be ready to compete because this is very serious fun. Earn bragging rights that last long after you’ve left the court.
Philly is where basketball greats like Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant have honed their championship skills. The steady beats of dribbling make up the soundtrack of our hot summers with many of our public courts open early, closing late. But the game doesn’t end when the seasons change. The city counts nearly 200 rec center courts and plenty of indoor leagues.
Whether it’s your first time or you’re already legend on the blacktop, the only question we’ve got for you is: you got next?
